Why We Started
Web3Chennai was born from a simple observation: while Chennai has a vibrant tech community, there was a significant gap in understanding and adopting Web3 technologies. We saw brilliant developers hesitating to explore blockchain because of its complexity and misconceptions.
Our founders, who had been working in Web3 for years, realized that what was missing wasn't talent or interest, but rather a supportive community that could make Web3 accessible, practical, and focused on real technology rather than speculation.
We started with small meetups, sharing knowledge about blockchain fundamentals, smart contracts, and decentralized applications. The response was overwhelming - developers were hungry for practical, no-nonsense Web3 education that focused on building rather than trading.
Our Story
Web3Chennai was founded in 2022 by a group of passionate developers who recognized the need for a dedicated Web3 community in Chennai. What started as informal meetups in co-working spaces has grown into one of South India's most active blockchain communities.
Our journey began with the simple belief that decentralized technologies would fundamentally change how we build and interact with digital systems. We wanted to create a space where developers could learn, experiment, and build together.
In the last 3 years, we've organized over 50+ events, conducted 35+ workshops, and helped launch 30+ builders. Our community has grown to over 6,000 event participants, including students, professionals, entrepreneurs, and builders.
